The Maker's Son is an alternate history fantasy in a world where raccoons evolved in parallel with humans, taking over the Americas and holding humans at bay for generations. In 1687, the Spanish have had quite enough and send an armada to invade, beginning with the southern tip of Florida. Chuktik, a novice Enforcer, flees the destruction, and with his young companion, Claktiss, they take a Spanish cabin boy captive and search for anyone who will help them broker a peace before it's too late.
